Social Events

We are a welcoming, intergenerational community that enjoys spending time together, whether after church at coffee hour, at all-church dinners and picnics, at smaller, more intimate groups or working at one of our major fundraising events. There are many opportunities to connect with others at Second Parish.

Patio 6

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are being creative with social events.  Patio 6 is six parishioners gathering at a host’s patio for drinks and conversation.  The seating is six feet apart and masks are worn initially until drinks and snacks are served.

Art Appreciation Group

The art enthusiasts of Second Parish enjoy several outings each year.  Recent trips include the fog installation at the Arnold Arboretum, the Boston Institute of Contemporary Art, the Peabody Essex Museum, an architectural tour of the Boston Public Library, and a Christmas concert by the Millennium Gospel Singers at the Museum of Fine Arts.

Men’s Breakfast

One Saturday morning each month, the men of the church gather at the church in Cushing Hall. There is no set agenda, just a good meal and good company. For more information, please contact Lou Belknap at lsbelknap@gmail.com.

Ladies Night Out

Once every couple of months, the women of the church get together to catch up, usually at someone’s home. We invite you to join us for casual conversation and a simple supper.

Summer Picnic

As Second Parish is closed for the summer, our picnic is a wonderful way to reconnect.  In early August the entire congregation meets at the home of one of our members to enjoy a potluck outdoor picnic.  Games are available and it is a popular multigenerational event.

Dinners for Eight

These are dinners held periodically at someone’s home. It’s a nice way to learn more about each other in a social context with good food and wine.
